Houston Arts and Media Producing Comedy Documentary
Houston, TX September 5, 2006 Houston Arts and Media has
stepped up shooting in earnest on Stand Up Story, a documentary history
of stand up comedy in Houston. The story is centered around the nationally
famous Comedy Workshop Annex that flourished here from 1978 to 1990, producing
scores of internationally known comedians.
Several interviews with comedy alumni from the club have already been
shot by Dos Dogs Productions and Wildcatter Productions, and a short demo
has been edited to debut at a HAM event on the evening of Sunday, September
10 at the Mucky Duck, 2425 Norfolk. A website dedicated to the project
is also up and running at www.standupstory.com
The move to full production status coincides with a reunion of about
twenty comedians from around the country, all of whom got their start
at the Comedy Workshop Annex. That three day event will run from Thursday,
September 14 through Saturday, September 16 at the Laff Spot Willowbrook.
